The first of seven bowl games this week takes place on Monday afternoon in Orlando. The 2003 Tangerine Bowl will match up NC State from the ACC and Kansas from the Big XII. Led by senior offensive threats in QB Philip Rivers and WR Jerricho Cotchery, the Wolfpack will try to pick up their eighth win of the year. With his 4,000 yards passing this season, Rivers became the first QB in ACC history to throw for 3,000 yards in three different seasons. The KU offense, which averages 30 points and 400 yards per game, is led by QB Billy Whittemore. On Tuesday, Boise State, the WAC champion, and TCU will battle each other in the first-ever Forth Worth Bowl. Other bowl games this week include the Las Vegas, Hawaii, Motor City, Insight, and Continental Tire Bowls. |
In the first week of bowl action, it was Memphis and Miami (Ohio) who picked up wins to get postseason play started. The Tigers knocked off North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl while the Redhawks claimed a victory over Louisville in Mobile's GMAC Bowl. Stay tuned to SCS.com for complete coverage of all the matchups!
