Smith threw for over 350 yards and connected on nearly 75% of his passes as the Utes claimed a huge victory over Texas A&M to start the season.
Runner-Up: Sonny Cumbie, Texas Tech

Kay-Jay Harris, West Virginia
Harris set a Big East record with 337 yards rushing against East Carolina. Harris also scored four touchdowns as the Mountaineers started off the season 1-0.
Runner-Up: Vernand Morency, Oklahoma State
TOP WR

TOP TEAM
Washington State
The experts overlook the Cougars time and time again, but WSU just keeps on winning. A road victory over New Mexico should look impressive at season's end.

TOP GAME
Oregon State at LSU
The defending national champions drove down the field in the final minutes to score a TD and tying two-point conversion before winning the game on a missed extra point in overtime.
Runner-Up: Northwestern at TCU
TOP UPSET
Troy over Marshall
The Thundering Herd has lost some of its fright recently, while the Trojans look to be a front-runner in the Sun Belt this season.
Runner-Up: Florida Atlantic over Hawaii
