SURVEY SAYS: WHO'S IN AND WHO'S OUT
March 8, 2006

SCS.com It's that time of year when everyone everywhere is projecting which bubble teams will get the call on Selection Sunday, which is now just four days away. We at SCS.com are no exception. Each staff member, whether they cover baseball, basketball, or football, was asked to gauge the dancing chances of 22 teams that most experts believe are currently sitting atop the NCAA bubble. They were allowed to select just 11 of those teams to go dancing, leaving the other 11 sitting on the outside looking in.

So according to the staff, here is what we know...or at least what we think we know. Each of the following teams got at least five "IN" or "OUT" votes:

DEFINITELY IN (8): Cincinnati, Florida State, Indiana, Michigan, Northern Iowa, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, UAB
DEFINITELY OUT (5): Air Force, BYU, Colorado, Utah State, Vanderbilt

Then we can pretty much go ahead and give the nod to the following teams who got four "IN" or "OUT" votes as well:

LIKELY IN (2): Bradley, Missouri State
LIKELY OUT (5): Creighton, Hofstra, Houston, Maryland, Syracuse

So at this point we've decided the fate of 20 of the 22 teams, putting 10 of them in the Tournament and slamming the door on the hopes of 10 others. And since we said there were just 11 Big Dance slots available, the SCS.com staff believes (at least at this point) that the final spot will come down to these final two teams:

ON THE BUBBLE (2): California, George Mason

So that's what we think. The jury is still out and the truth won't be known for another few days, but that's where we feel all of those on the bubble currently stand. Stay tuned for our final bracket projection, coming on Friday, for one last glance before the weekend.
