ON LOCATION AT THE 2007 SEC TOURNEY: DAY FIVE RECAP
May 28, 2007

Day One Recap | Day Two Recap | Day Three Recap | Day Four Recap

SCS.com Vandy Wins SEC Tourney with 7-4 Victory Over Arkansas

After losing their first game of the SEC Tournament to Tennessee, #1 Vanderbilt has won 5 straight games to win their first SEC Tourney since 1980. In this game, Vandy opened the first inning with 4 runs and never looked back. The Commodores received a decent start from Tyler Rhoden, who limited the Hogs to 4 runs over 6.2 innings.

Every starter except for one recorded a hit in the game, with Ryan Flaherty recording two doubles and catcher Shea Robin producing 2 RBI's. Brett Jacobsen finished the game for the Commodores, who will likely be the #1 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.

For Arkansas, they will host a regional but probably not receive a national seed. Pedro Alvarez was named Tourney MVP along with Shea Robin, Ryan Flaherty, and Dominic de la Osa receiving all tournament team honors. The duo of Nick Schmidt and Jess Todd with Danny Hamblin and Casey Coon received tournament honors for the Arkansas Razorbacks. It was a great tournament in Hoover, with pitching dominating the batters throughout the week.
