By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
Miami and Florida State opened the 2004 season with the first-ever ACC battle between those two squads, the Hurricanes picking up a six-point victory. Larry Coker's squad will have to pay a visit to Tallahassee this fall, though. It's been yet another tumultuous offseason for Bobby Bowden and company. QB Wyatt Sexton garnered national attention after a summer arrest before it was announced that he would miss the....[MORE]

SCS.comPREVIEWING THE 2005 SEC
August 22, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
One third of the SEC is under the guidance of a new head coach this fall, and only three of the league's coaches have been the top dog at their school since 2000 or before. The Eastern Divison looks to have the top tier of teams in the SEC this fall, with Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee all very capable of making a trip to Atlanta. In the West, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU look to be the only teams sure to finish above .500 this fall....[MORE]

SCS.comPREVIEWING THE 2005 BIG XII
August 19, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
The Big XII South will again be the dominant side of the conference in 2005, led by the Texas Longhorns. Though UT is the most talented team in the league, proving they can win the division is a completely different matter. Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech are each capable of winning eight or more games themselves. In the North, Colorado looks to be the preseason choice, though ISU should be a contender....[MORE]

SCS.comONE ON ONE WITH JARRETT HICKS
August 17, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
Texas Tech University wide receiver Jarrett Hicks recently took time to answer a few questions from SCS.com. Hicks, an excellent example of a true student-athlete, is one of the top wideouts in the Big XII and is a returning junior in Lubbock. After being selected to the All-Big XII First Team following the 2004 campaign, Hicks was recently named a 2005 Preseason All-American by NationalChamps.net. The Red Raiders....[MORE]

SCS.comPREVIEWING THE 2005 ACC
August 15, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
The ACC finally has its full complement of a dozen teams and will play the league's first ever conference championship game this fall. Florida State looks to be the favorite in the Atlantic Division, though every squad on that side of the conference has the potential to win six or more games. The Coastal Division is a little harder to project but should definitely be the superior side of the league. VT and Miami are the early favorites....[MORE]

SCS.comPREVIEWING THE 2005 PAC 10
August 12, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
Last year's co-national champions have the talent to go unbeaten again, but Arizona State may have something to say about that on October 1. Oregon returns 13 starters but won just five games a year ago. UCLA went bowling in 2004, but the Bruins looks to improve the record even more in '05. Returning just nine starters, how will Cal fare after missing out on the BCS a year ago? And don't forget Oregon St. and Washington St....[MORE]

Oregon State University wide receiver Mike Hass recently took time to answer a few questions from SCS.com. Hass, a former walk-on turned All-American, is one of the top wideouts in the PAC 10 and is a returning senior in Corvallis. After earning a scholarship in the fall of 2003 and postseason Third Team All-American honors in 2004, Hass looks to compile more than 1,000 yards receiving again in 2005. The Beavers....[MORE]

SCS.comPREVIEWING THE 2005 BIG TEN
August 9, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
Michigan and Iowa tied for the Big Ten championship in 2004, and it appears both squads will be in contention for the top spot again in 2005. Ohio State and Purdue are two more teams to watch out for this fall. Though both finished just 4-4 in league play a year ago, the Buckeyes return eighteen total starters, and the Boilermakers return all eleven defensive starters. And don't count out Minnesota....[MORE]

University of Iowa linebacker Abdul Hodge recently took time to answer a few questions from SCS.com. Hodge, who turned down a shot at the NFL last winter, is a returning senior in Iowa City. The Florida native, who has already picked up preseason honors from media publications like NationalChamps.net and The Sporting News, was recently named to the Nagurski and Lott Trophy Watch Lists. The Hawkeyes, coming....[MORE]

SCS.comPREVIEWING THE 2005 MAC
August 5, 2005
By Jonathan, SCS.com Editor
The MAC lost a pair of teams to the conference realignment over the offseason and now sits at a perfect dozen football-playing members. As has been the case over the past few years, Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois, and Toledo appear to be the top contenders for this fall's conference title. The Falcons, RedHawks, Huskies, and Rockets combined to lose just five MAC games in 2004....[MORE]
