Jonathan’s Regional Predictions
Regional Predicted Winner Comments
Coral Gables, FL Miami (Fl) Florida and Stetson give it all they’ve got but it’s not enough to knock off the national #2 seed as the Hurricanes advance to the Super Regionals.
Clemson, SC South Alabama The Jaguars come in and steal the #1 seed and then they steal the show as they knock off the Tigers on Sunday to advance to Super Regionals.
Tallahassee, FL Florida State Auburn and the crew bow down to the Seminoles as they take this one rather easily.
Athens, GA Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets steal thunder from Dawgs as Polk and Co. can’t capitalize on SEC season championship.
Palo Alto, CA Stanford Dirt Bags put up good fight, but Cardinal, national #4 seed, come out alive in the end.
Colombia, SC South Carolina This is a toss-up but I think SC’s pitching comes through as it has most of the year to advance the Gamecocks.
South Bend, IN Notre Dame Notre Dame cruises in this one, advancing to the round of 16.
Los Angeles, CA Southern Cal Trojans battle through several very close games to advance.
Colombus, OH Mississippi State Bulldogs’ pitching staff remains strong, proves it’s one of the best as MSU advances.
Fullerton, CA Arizona State Sun Devils come in thinking upset and that’s exactly what they get, knocking off the national #1 seed CSF.
Wilson, NC Winthrop A strong yet unknown Winthrop team comes in to win only off-campus regional site.
Knoxville, TN Wake Forest Deacons beat Middle TN to clinch Super Regional berth as Vols don’t live to see Sunday.
Lincoln, NE Nebraska Huskers stroll through fairly easy regional to advance to Super Regional play.
Houston, TX Rice Rice battles with three other in-state opponents and wins the war, advancing on to the round of 16.
Baton Rouge, LA LSU Tigers once again advance into Super Regional play by taking care of business as usual in Bertman’s last year.
New Orleans, LA Tulane Rebels put up good fight but Wave advances to take on the in-state rival Tigers.
Here’s how I would project the super regional matchups:
South Alabama at Miami
Georgia Tech at Florida State
South Carolina at Stanford
Notre Dame at Southern Cal
Arizona State at Mississippi State
Winthrop at Wake Forest
Rice at Nebraska
LSU at Tulane
