UNVEILING THE FIRST ROUND OF BOWL PROJECTIONS
October 16, 2007

SCS.comWith the first official BCS Rankings going public this week, now is the time that we will really start to see a lot of bowl projections coming out. Predicting the matchups in 31 bowls with 62 teams, out of the plethora of programs that are still in contention to be bowl eligible at this point in the season, is not an easy task. It has been made even harder this season by the tremendous amount of unpredictability that has been occurring. In the last four weeks of the season, ten different teams that were ranked in the top ten have lost, including two teams ranked number one in the country, and one team ranked second.

While I wont go into detail about every game, since many of these pairings may not play out, I will touch upon a few of the bigger bowls. Ohio State has a tough schedule still with games coming against Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan. But of the top three undefeated teams, I feel they have the best chance to run the table, therefore I have them playing for a national championship. With every other unbeaten team expected to lose at some point between now and the end of the season, LSU, with their strength of schedule, should finish as the best one-loss team. Including the Tigers, I see the SEC, Pac-10, Big 12 and Big East as all getting two teams into BCS bowls this year, with the ACC and Big 10 each getting one.
