It was a close tally, but as they've done numerous times in other polls already this offseason, the Memphis Tigers will start off atop the SCS.com Fab 15, slipping in narrowly ahead of the UCLA Bruins. North Carolina comes in at number three, before Tennessee and Louisville round out the top five. Traditional powers Kansas, Georgetown, and Michigan State fall in next, just ahead of Washington State and Indiana who complete the top ten.
A rather large gap in the votes follows the Hoosiers before Marquette, Duke, Arizona, Oregon, and Texas round out the preseason poll. A number of teams narrowly missed a spot in the preliminary Fab 15, including west coast powers Gonzaga and Southern Cal. Last year's postseason number one and defending national champion, the Florida Gators, failed to receive a vote in the staff's preseason poll, while reigning number two Ohio State received just one point. Those two were among seven teams ranked in last spring's postseason Fab 15 who did not appear in this preseason version.
