CLASSIC BATTLE TOPS WEEKEND'S HOOPS SCHEDULE
December 1, 2006

SCS.comIt's championship weekend in college football, but it's also an extremely busy couple of days on the hardwood as the month of December cranks up, signaling the beginning of the meat of the non-conference college hoops action. Among the top games set for this Saturday or Sunday is a matchup between two of basketball's all-time greats, Kentucky and North Carolina. Can the Heels follow up their big win over Ohio State with a victory over the 'Cats? Also on the schedule this weekend are games between Gonzaga and Texas, Illinois and Arizona, and Wichita State and Syracuse.

[ Must-See Games in Orange ]

Kentucky at North Carolina - Saturday

Two of college basketball's all-time greats meet in Chapel Hill, the Heels fresh off an impressive win against Ohio State on Wednesday.

Clemson at South Carolina - Saturday

After meeting on the gridiron last weekend, these in-state foes get together on the hardwood this week.

Northern Iowa at Bucknell - Saturday

Fresh off a big home win over in-state rival Iowa State, the Panthers get a shot at one of America's best low-majors in recent years.

Gonzaga at Texas - Saturday

This one's a great matchup of two young teams looking to replace big-time losses from a season ago.

Kansas at DePaul - Saturday

Since losing to Oral Roberts, it appears the Jayhawks are on a mission. Meanwhile, can the Demons get back on track?

St. Louis at Southern Illinois - Saturday

The one-loss Bilikens take a trip to battle a very tough Salukis squad, perhaps the best mid-major in the country.

Georgia at Wake Forest - Saturday

Both programs are trying to get back on track, so it will be interesting to see who takes this win. The Deacons were embarrassed at Air Force earlier this week.

Illinois at Arizona - Saturday

The Illini dropped a tough one at home to Maryland earlier this week and now face a big test in the desert.

Holy Cross at Dayton - Saturday

The Crusaders' only loss was a close one to Syracuse, while the Flyers are pumped after taking down Louisville last Friday.

Wichita State at Syracuse - Saturday

After taking down LSU in Baton Rouge, can the Shockers pull off another one against the unbeaten Orange?

Georgetown at Duke - Saturday

The Hoyas are still somewhat of a mystery at this point, and Cameron Indoor is no place to be resolving such issues.

Boston College at Massachusetts - Saturday

The Eagles picked up a huge win over Michigan State on Wednesday but now must test themselves against a UMass team with a lot of hype this winter.

Loyola Marymount at Southern Cal - Saturday

LMU is expected to be a contender in the WCC race, but how will they fare on the road against Nick Young and the Trojans?

Bradley at Michigan State - Sunday

The Spartans fell at BC earlier this week, and another loss could be in store against a better-than-expected Braves team.

Bucknell at George Mason - Sunday

After taking on Northern Iowa on Saturday, the Bison take their shot at last year's Final Four cinderella.

Pittsburgh at Auburn - Sunday

Expectations are high at Pitt this season, but the Tigers hope to pull the upset and ride that momentum through the holidays.

New Mexico at UTEP - Sunday

The Lobos look like a serious NCAA contender this year, but this will be their first trip away from home.

NC State at Virginia - Sunday

The Pack put up an inspirational performance against Michigan, while the Cavs dropped a heart-breaker at Purdue. Who gets the first conference win?

Virginia Tech at George Washington - Sunday

Tech grabbed a huge 'W' against Iowa on Wednesday. GW, meanwhile, needs to rebound from a beating they took on the road at Providence.

Georgia Tech at Miami - Sunday

Tech has major potential, but we'll see how they look in the ACC road opener on the beach.

Texas Tech at Stanford - Sunday

Both of these squads are relative unknowns coming into the season. One can make a statement with a quality win like this.

Notre Dame at Maryland - Sunday

The Irish have bounced back since dropping a game to Butler, but picking up a win at Maryland (who's still unbeaten) will be a monstrous challenge.

Florida State at Florida - Sunday

Like Clemson and South Carolina, these two met on the football field last week and now take the action indoors on Sunday.

Nevada at California - Sunday

The Pack has looked superb so far, so this will be an interesting test on the road CAL vs KSTATE
