College Basketball Super Sixteen

For the second week in a row, the top four teams remain unchanged. Though there are a few shake-ups in the poll, no new team enters with this week's edition....

[ Week of January 5 - 11 ]

>SUPER SIXTEEN POWER RANKINGS

Duke Duke
10-1
Swarming Duke defense is giving up a little over 56 PPG, and J.J. Redick looks like he might be getting his stroke back.
Connecticut Connecticut
11-1
Villanueva has been as good as advertised. Match-up with Oklahoma will show if Connecticut is in fact a better team with him playing.
Arizona Arizona
9-1
Salim Stoudamire will put up a 0 point performance against LA Lafayette one night, and then turn around and drop 26 on Arizona State the other. Arizona can’t afford that kind of inconsistency.
Wake Forest Wake Forest
9-0
Eric Williams continues to impress. We’ll find out more in the coming weeks about Wake.
St. Joseph's St. Joseph's
11-0
Don’t worry about St. Joseph’s overlooking anybody on their schedule, but going into Richmond won’t be easy.
Stanford Stanford
11-0
Stanford opens up Pac-10 play with a couple of road games in the state of Arizona. 1-1 will be a success.
Louisville Louisville
9-1
Hopefully Providence’s bad luck doesn’t rub off on Rick Pitino. Schedule is favorable in the coming weeks.
Kentucky Kentucky
9-1
Finally, clutch scoring was the key in Kentucky’s win over UNC.
Oklahoma Oklahoma
10-0
Oklahoma will get their first real test of the season when they play UConn on 1/11.
Pittsburgh Pittsburgh
14-0
Is Pitt for real? 21 point win over Georgia should tell us something.
Cincinnati Cincinnati
9-0
What else is there to say about Cincinnati other than they are killing everyone they play?
Creighton Creighton
9-0
I wonder who will stay undefeated longer, Creighton or St. Joseph’s. Knowing the NCAA committee, they’ll probably both go undefeated and end up playing each other in an 8-9 game.
Georgia Tech Georgia Tech
12-1
Tech can’t afford to send foes to the line 36 times on the road and expect to win.
North Carolina North Carolina
8-2
A couple of close losses against good teams has Roy Williams wishing he were back in Kansas. Give it time Roy, things will come together.
Vanderbilt Vanderbilt
11-0
Two-week stay on the Super 16 looks might come to a close this week as Vanderbilt travels to Kentucky.
Syracuse Syracuse
9-1
Syracuse held serve to avoid being the first decent team to lose to Michigan State. Big East play begins this week.
